Channing Tatum will make his directorial debut with the Comedy Dog

    Channing Tatum will be behind the camera for his latest project. The Magic Mike star completed a deal to star in Dog and co-direct. In this roadtrip comedy, Tatum's production partner Reid Carolin will direct it with him. This will mark Tatum's directorial debut and reunite him with some of the people behind some of his most successful cinematic efforts.

    According to several reports, Film Nation and CAA launch sales of Dog at the American Film Market, which begins this week in Santa Monica, California. The project is supposed to come together pretty quickly behind the scenes. In addition to the directing Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin lead the script with Brett Rodriguez. Tatum and Carolin will co-produce with Peter Kiernan and Gregory Jacobs on Free Association. Carolin previously wrote Magic Mike and produced the hit with Tatum. Jacobs staged the successful sequel Magic Mike XXL . So this team has a solid track record.

    Dog is said to be concentrating on the former Ranger Briggs (Channing Tatum), who is on a journey along the Pacific coast with his dog Lulu, attending the funeral of his best friend, who happens to be also Lulu's former servant is. One of them has one week to live while the other lives as if every day was his last. Along the way, they will drive each other mad, break the law, barely escaping death by particularly aggressive pot farmers, and deal with the possibility that pet psychics are not joking. Filming is scheduled to begin in spring 2020.

    Channing Tatum has been a Hollywood star on the A-list for nearly a decade. Some of his notable credits are G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra White House Down the critically acclaimed drama Foxcatcher and Logan Lucky as well as the comedy hits 21st Jump Street and 22 Jump Street . More recently, Tatum starred in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and spoke with projects such as Smallfoot and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part . Tatum will star alongside Ryan Reynolds next year (19459009) Free Guy (19459004). He has produced a number of projects but was not previously a director. However, he reportedly flirted with directing Gambit (19459005), the ill-fated X-Men spin-off (19459005) that was never launched before Fox's Disney merger]. There is no word yet about who could still play in the comedy. It is also not clear when the film could be released because a large studio has not yet registered to spread the image.
